I wanted to end off the month of July talking about a topic that I find pretty enlightening – intention.
The question we can begin asking ourselves is what would life look like if we lived in every moment intentionally?
I came across a quote that said “show up in every single moment like you’re meant to be there” and it really made me think about how we can live a more intentional life, each and every day as well as how and why it may be good for us to do so.
I think that it is very easy to get caught up in insignificance. It is easy to get caught up in things that are time and energy wasters as well as things that can leave us completely missing the point or beauty of the experience we may currently find ourselves in. I believe that it is inevitable to fall victim to distractions in a world that is always busy and bustling. Today, it has almost become normal for us to overlook the important things, especially when the important things are little and not so easily seen. Sometimes we can also get so caught up in the details, the intricate details of our worries, fears and concerns, that we fail to focus on the bigger picture. We entertain tasks, thoughts, emotions and even people that aren’t meant to be the center of our attention and as a result, it can leave us feeling unfulfilled, uninspired and tired. It can lead us astray from our priorities, path and our purpose. The question then becomes – How can we live our lives so that we feel more fulfilled, inspired, full of passion and energetic instead? How can we ensure that we stay focused and continue to walk on our own tailored made plans, path and purpose?
I believe that what we need to be doing is dedicating enough time and energy to our own needs. We need to be dedicating time to self-reflection, where we can practice being self-aware. It will help us to be more intentional about ourselves in everything that we do and everywhere that we go. We need to be aware of our feelings and how we function in different environments along with our hearts inner most dreams and desires. We need to be aware of our surroundings and the people in it, opening our eyes up to opportunities where we can offer our attention to others who may be needing our one of a kind presence and influence in their lives. We need to open our minds up to the potential of being positive forces of change. We can do this by being intentional in how we spend our time, what we think about, what we say and who we interact with. We can be intentional about what we eat, what we see, what we hear and also with our actions in order to work towards our goals. We can even be intentional in our prayers, for if we ask for something and we are intentional in every moment, seeking guidance and direction, meditating on our prayer requests, we will be able to focus more, learn more and perhaps find clarity sooner.
I think that what it means to be intentional is to be mindful and present as much as we can in every moment. When we have good intentions, our hearts and motives are rooted in a healthy place too, where we, ourselves and others around us, can reap the benefits. I think that every day we have the opportunity to choose to make the most of every moment, where we get to look for the significance, lesson or blessing in every situation we find ourselves in and with every person we interact with. Among the chaos, we also get to find and create the purpose in all that we do. We might not find meaning in every experience, but living intentionally can ensure that we make the most of our time, while we take care of ourselves, work towards our hopes and dreams and positively influence the world around us.
For my readers, I think it is important to keep in mind that your life, where it is leading you, mixed with who you uniquely are, has so much significance and power. It is up to you to seek and find how much light and positivity you can spark in your day-to-day interactions and experiences by being intentional and by simply being you.
I feel as if the verse Matthew 7: 7-8 gives us an idea of the sort of magic that can happen when we are intentional in everything we do, hope for and ask for – when we focus on the positive, when our hearts are filled with purpose, faith and trust and when we are filled with good intention.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matthew 7: 7-8)
Therefore this week, I want to challenge myself and my readers to be more intentional. To really take a look at our hopes, dreams, desires and goals for the week as well as where each and every day is leading us. I want us to invest the time and energy into factors that can contribute positively and significantly to our day, week, year and even lives. I challenge us to be present, mindful and purposeful in each moment and to then watch the magic that will start to happen because of it.
Until next week xx
